A dental implant is the closest thing modern dentistry offers to a natural tooth — a titanium post that replaces the root, topped with a custom crown that replaces the tooth you see. Many practices handle only part of the process and refer the rest out. At Dental Arts of Boston, both the placement (the surgical part) and the restoration (the beautiful tooth on top) happen in our Back Bay office. That means coordinated care, one team, and one comfortable place to go. Dental implants can:

Placing your implant. The surgical phase is led by Dr. Mahmoud Hamad, who completed his periodontal residency at Harvard and specializes in implant placement and bone grafting. Using 3D imaging, we plan the exact position of your implant for stability and a natural result. If you’ve experienced bone loss, grafting can often rebuild the foundation so implants become possible. The implant is then placed and given time to fuse with the bone — a process called osseointegration that gives implants their remarkable stability.
Restoring your implant. Once your implant has integrated, our cosmetic dentists complete the restoration. We attach an abutment and place a custom crown, bridge, or implant-supported denture — shade-matched and shaped to blend seamlessly with your smile. For patients replacing many teeth, we also offer All-on-X and overdentures. Financing is available.

Coordinated care. When the same team plans and completes both phases, your treatment is more seamless, communication is simpler, and you have one familiar place for every step.
Implant placement is done with anesthesia and is more comfortable than most patients expect — often compared to a routine extraction. Mild soreness afterward is manageable, and our team keeps you comfortable throughout.
Because the implant needs time to fuse with the bone, the full process usually spans a few months. We’ll give you a personalized timeline at your consultation based on your needs and whether grafting is involved.
